"Warring States" is a set of fast-play rules designed for the era of Chinese history known by that name, which for our purposes covers approximately the period from 400 to 200 BC. During these years of bloody conflict the numerous independent states into which China had been divided since the 8th century were reduced to one - Ch'in, the founder in 221 BC of the first imperial dynasty.
