The Fiat-Ansaldo M13/40 was an Italian WW2 tank designed to replace the Fiat L3, the Fiat L6/40 and the Fiat M11/39 in the Italian Army at the start of WW2. The M13/40 was used in the Greek campaign of 1940 and 1941 and in North Africa. Its 47mm long barreled gun was more than a match for the British tanks of 1940-41 which were similarly armored but carried 2 pdr (40mm) guns with shorter range and inferior ballistic performance. Over 3000 were built making it Italy's most heavily produced tank.
